2nd Annual Prom Dress Drive: Say Yes to the Prom Dress OKC, OK 03/05/2016
The kick off to the Second Annual Say Yes to the Prom Dress the weekend of March 5th was a huge success!! High school ladies had the opportunity to choose a dress, accessories, and a pair of shoes for their special occasion.
The young ladies and parents were given refreshments and snacks while shopping for the perfect prom dress. Faces were lit up with excitement when the young ladies found the perfect dress to take home as their own.
During the selection process, raffle tickets were given out to each young lady and that’s where the fun began! Numerous young ladies won certificates to local hair stylists, makeup artists, and nail artists. Four lucky ladies won the ultimate prize of a limo ride to and from the prom.
The Candy Girls didn’t miss an opportunity to show up and give back to the community! The team coordinated shirt colors so you could easily identify who was there to volunteer and help the young ladies search for that amazing dress. Volunteers worked hard to set up the clothes racks and were available to help with selections. Coordinating the dresses by color made it easier to find that perfect prom dress. Even I had the opportunity to secure my candy girls shirt and take pictures with this amazing group of promoters.
The Second Annual Say Yes to the Prom Dress Drive would not be possible without Shalonda Lewis the CEO of Candy Girl Entertainment. Shalonda spent countless days and hours calling, emailing, coordinating, making flyers, and reaching out to schools and potential contributors.
Local radio and news stations were beneficial in spreading the message to the community and OKC Channel 4 came out to the event for special coverage. The event is something necessary in our inner city community to help our youth.
The second annual drive was a success and Candy Girl Entertainment is always looking into new ideas of being an active figure in the community. This event addresses a need we have in our inner city community and helps bring people together for an amazing life changing mission for our future through our youth.
Great Job Candy Girls! Thank you for giving back and being such a momentous figure in the Oklahoma City Community.
